Day 6 Glenn:
Today commenced with probably the longest sleep that I've had thus far on the trip and I was feeling good for it. I also woke with thoughts of Rhys attending his Year 12 Formal. The car was handed in and so I felt that a new stage of the trip was about to commence.
All family members who could attend were invited to lunch at Nigel & Barbara's to catch up with each other and also enjoy three Aussies' company. It was nice to share a family day.
Emily:
Wonderful sleep-in until 9am! Feeling very rested. Such a slow relaxing morning.. Barbara & Nigel cooked us an English Breakfast. Slowly, we got ready for the day. We returned the hire car (unfortunately for us we had filled the car up yesterday) and didn't get a refund for the petrol as we had signed an agreement we would return it empty. A lesson learned...
...Back to the house to prepare for the buffet lunch. My niece's arrived with their children; then Bob and Helen (my brother and sister-in-law) arrived, next was my sister Gina with her two daughters and their partners and finally my sister Joanna arrived with her two children and my brother Paul.
We enjoyed each other's company for the afternoon, sitting in the sun (yes it has been sunny every day), then we left just after 5pm to visit Peter's Grandparents in Tonwell. We sat with them for an hour to let them get to know Peter very briefly, but left with the understanding that he can now write to them and stay in touch.
Back to Nigel's to pack and make our way to a dodgy hotel next to Runway 4 at Heathrow.
A sad farewell to Nigel and Barbara - thank you to you both for an amazing two days.
Peter:
Today we woke up and had breakfast. We went and dropped off our car. We then went back home and waited for everyone to come over. Everyone arrived and we hung out for the rest of the day. I went around to Roy and Barbara's and sat and talked. After that we went back to Nigel and Barbara's and then they drove us to Heathrow.
