Emily:
This morning was a complete wipeout, starting at 5am. John & Adrian kindly drove us to Schiphol in two cars, just so we could make the fast train to Paris. Peter as you will see by the photos, simply refused to get in some of them (he's driving me nuts!!!).
By the time we arrived in Paris, sorted out a connecting train to Eurodisney, we found out that we went one station too far! We then returned, couldn't find the hotel, walked around for ages, eventually getting a taxi (10euros) and crashing at around 3.15pm! Splashed water on our faces and trudged back out again. Caught train to Paris de Nord station and had a fantastic time in Paris, walking around seeing the sights, catching buses, ending up at the Eiffel Tower where a major lightning storm happened and dumped on us! THANK YOU MARY FROM ST JOHNS FOR TELLING ME TO PACK A BROLLEY! ha ha the boys didn't have one though ha ha We travelled home soaked, getting back to hotel (caught last bus) at around 10.30pm. We're now paying for the Internet 8euros per hour, because the French charge 49euros for a 'dongle' (for those aussies reading this blog - that means a USB Internet wireless stick that attaches to the laptop). Blow that for a joke, we're just going to pay by the hour!
Glenn:
Today started with a tinge of sadness, this was as we left the last family contact that we will have for the remainder of the holiday. The time we spent with family whilst being on holidays, enjoying their overwhelming hospitality has been fantastic. The train trip into Paris from Amsterdam was good, being able to see a range of different sights, whether it be city scapes or landscapes. Paris was a little overwhelming for me, but Emily's survival skills and instincts survived us all with remenance of the French language. The hotel we have got is wonderful, even though we spent much of the middle of the day looking for it. Tourist sights in Paris are all they are cracked up to be. The grandeur of the buildings was mind blowing for this little aussie lad! The Eiffel tower was another wonderful experience.
Peter:
The train trip was boring to Paris. Paris was boring until it rained. We all got soaked, the rain was so hard we couldn't walk straight. We had dinner at maccas. Then we went back to the hotel.
Rhys:
Still catching up on European time and has crashed again! He will write his tomorrow....
