Day 2 photos

Day 1 photos

This is Peter hiding at the airport from the suspected bomb!

Day 2

Emily's day:
What a busy day chatting... I had a great time getting to know Tracy, James & Abbey. We did loads of things together, but the best thing was talking to Tracy and understanding the past!

Peter's day:
We went bowling with James and Abby. Then we went to Maccas. Then we went to adventureland. Then we went swimming at their local indoor swimming pool. Then we all went out for dinner. Then we came home and I wrote this dumb blog!

Glenn's day:
Started the day avoiding black pudding for breakfast; decided that toast was a better option for breakfast at the B&B we're staying at. The locals are a friendly bunch, stopping for a chat as we pass by. Thank goodness for small cars when you're travelling on half a road trying to avoid oncoming traffic whilst trying not to hit parked cars in your lane. I begin to break into a sweat when I avoid a bus or lorry (truck). Enjoyed just sitting around watching Peter, James and Abbey getting to know each other. Off up north tomorrow to Manchester.

Day 1

Emily's Day

Had alarm set for 8.00am, but woke excitedly at 7am! Took Brad and Page to Jason’s and said a teary farewell.

Drove to Glenn’s work and left the car there. Caught a silver cab to the airport (it stank of B.O). Checked in straight away and then had to kill four hours until boarding.

Went up to the observation deck, there was a trolley of baggage left on its own. We asked the couple of people who were there if it was there’s, but it didn’t belong to anyone. I called security. When security arrived, an ESL guy came over to claim it – he hadn’t been there until minutes before security arrived (he had been downstairs at the bar). Security gave him a warning. Very exciting 10 mins, Peter didn’t want to come anywhere near us or the trolley (see photo!).

Plane to Singapore (Peter not seated with us so we were able to change seating) we had an extra seat to lay out on. Watched movies and played games (no sleeping). At Singapore airport we used some leg massage machine (very nice).

Singapore to London – I slept 7 hours. Read, watched another movie and prepared for London.

Arrived 15mins late due to congestion at Heathrow (not bad really). Came straight through Customs and baggage claims (30mins total). Caught courtesy bus to hire car office. Were allowed to choose the car we wanted from a section (Peter chose a Citroen Picasso) in the yard. Glenn let me drive first while he set up the GPS. We drove to Stonehenge (it was freezing), didn’t stay long. Then on to Bath where the city was so busy we just kept driving around and around until we got sick of it and found the exit road for Wales.

We arrived at Tracy’s house around 2pm. We get a chance to know Tracy before kids came home from school. When they did arrive from school, they were very excited to see Peter, they all went off to play up the road at a local playground. We checked into a B&B, Ray (Tracy’s husband) took us to ASDA to shop for a WIFI toggle and mobile phone sim card. Went back to B&B to clean up and change for dinner.

Tracy and Ray invited us for dinner and we stayed until about 9pm. Peter falling asleep on the couch, Glenn & I dangerously close to exhaustion! Don’t remember getting in, or getting ready for bed, or saying goodnight to each other... but woke up at 7am feeling suitably rested!

Peter's Day:

Today we flew out. At the airport we saw a pink hummer and a guy with a kangaroo hanging out of his backpack. The flight was crap.

Today we landed and drove to Stonehenge. It was alright but we weren’t allowed to go near it so we left. Then we went to bath but didn’t know where the baths were. We drove to Aberfam and saw Tracy, Ray, James and Abby. We had dinner and went to the park. Then we went to the place we were staying and slept.

Glenn's Day:

Managed to get several hours reasonable sleep on the flight. All seemed to be a little rushed when we arrived in and out of the airport within 1 to 2 hours, heading out of airport in hire car on the M4 off to Wales.

Brief detour via stonehenge, bath and then off to Aberfan Wales. Died really hard about 9.30pm, eyes shut before head hit pillow!
